Stem Cell Therapy

Repairing You, Naturally!

With medicine evolving we are able to now offer patient cutting edge treatment options that are alternatives to joint replacement surgery. Stem Cell Therapy for Arthritis and other injuries is that treatment. It is ideal for improving joint mobility, reducing joint pain, and preventing costly and painful surgeries.

Here at Desert Health Specialists, we understand you have seen other physicians or even surgeons that have diagnosed you or somebody you know with Arthritis, Degenerative Joint Disease or been told your joints are Bone-on-Bone.  As patients are diagnosed with these conditions, common medical treatments ensue, including anti-inflammatory drugs, pain killers, Rooster Comb Injections (Orthovisc/Synvisc), cortisone injections and possibly physical therapy. As treatments are tried the benefit and relief from many of these treatments is short lived and other treatment options are provided to take the pervious treatments place and still short lived results keep occurring. The end result for many of these conditions is major surgery like a total joint replacement or live with chronic pain and disability.  Well, we have a solution to all these problems and its Stem Cell Therapy.

Stem Cell Injection Therapy takes advantage of your body’s ability to repair itself naturally! With amniotic allograft injection therapy, one of our trained physicians injects the prepared amniotic solution into your area of pain. The injected amniotic solution contain anti-inflammatory properties, similar to that of cortisone but none of the negative and synthetic aspects cortisone injections contain. This solution goes far beyond the benefits of standard “cortisone injection therapy.” The growth factors found in the treatment may replace damaged cells in the area of your pain providing you pain relief. Additionally, amniotic injections contain a property called hyaluronic acid, which works to lubricate your joints and tendons, easing your pain and eventually restoring mobility.

Commonly Treated Injuries:

  • Osteoarthritis, Bone-on-Bone, Degenerative Joint Disease
  • Tendonitis & Tendenosis
  • Soft Tissue Injuries
  • Over Use Injuries (i.e., Rotater Cuff, Golfers Elbow, Tennis Elbow)
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Muscle Tear
  • and More!

Stem Cell Therapy FAQ

What Are Stem Cells

Stem cells have the remarkable potential to develop in to many different type of cells in the body.  When stem cells are used in tissue they serve as a sort of internal repair system, dividing essentially without limit to replenish the other cells that may be damaged. As stem cells divide they have the potential of remaining as a stem cell or becoming another type of cell with a more specific function, such as a muscle cell, a red blood cell, bone, skin and more. Because of these unique regenerative abilities, stem cells offer us potential to treat joint damage providing patients suffering from injury an extremely beneficial natural healing response. Thus depending on the pain you are suffering Stem Cell Therapy for Arthritis is very beneficial.

Are Amniotic Stem Cells Safe

From donor qualification to lot-release testing, we are committed to the safety and quality of our products.

Most human tissue products are derived from cadavers and processed by third-party tissue banks. We believe the use of live, healthy donors is a better approach to regenerative medicine. The placental-derived allografts are recovered from live, healthy donors that we pre-screen during pregnancy and choose based on our stringent donor selection criteria. From aseptic recovery of the tissue at childbirth to timely processing of our allografts, our protocols and procedures have been developed to meet or exceed all applicable industry standards for the use of human cellular and tissue-based products. Our operating entities are registered with the FDA and accredited by the American Association of Tissue Banks.

Doner Testing:

All potential donors are pre-screened during an examination of pre-natal medical records and test results. A comprehensive medical history and behavior risk assessment is obtained from the donor prior to donation incorporating U.S. Public Health Service guidelines. Discussions with the physician and/or the donor mother are conducted to identify circumstances that may lead to the exclusion of the donor or donated tissue.

Our infectious disease screening requirements meet or exceed all FDA requirements. Thus we are able to use Stem Cell Therapy for Arthritis.

How do Stem Cells Work

Stem Cell Therapy for Arthritis has 4 different key components

SUPPORTING SOFT TISSUE REPAIR

Extracellular matrix composition of Collagens I, III, IV, V, VII and other structural proteins provides a natural scaffold to facilitate cellular adhesion while assisting cellular migration and proliferation.(1)

PROMOTE SOFT TISSUE RECONSTRUCTION

Growth factors found in amniotic tissue such as PDGF, VEGF, EGF, FGF and TGF-B promote cellular proliferation and new collagen formation and minimize scar tissue formation.(1)

REDUCE INFLAMMATION AND PAIN

Interleukin-1 receptor antagonists (IL-1RA) and Tissue Inhibitor of Metalloproteinase (TIMP) 1, 2, 3, 4 proteins present in amniotic tissues suppress and modulate inflammation and pain.(2)

IMMUNE-PRIVILEGED

Amniotic tissues have been described as immune-privileged because they rarely evoke an immune response in the human body.

Where do perinatal stem cells come from

At Desert Health Specialists, we use products provided by PalinGen® (Amniotic Technology LLC). These cells are taken directly from the amniotic fluid of donors who are between 18-35, have no prior medication use or other chemical substances. A careful history is take regarding their social life, as well as their medical history. Their blood is tested for communicable diseases. Once they have past all the rigorious testing and screening then they my become a donor. At the time of caesarian delivery, the baby is delivered healthy and the placenta (which in past was typical discarded) is collected aseptically along with the Amniotic Fluid. The tissues are then retested to ensure safety and viability.  The tissues then will be processed to the highest standards. Adhering to the AATB, and FDA rules and regulations to ensure safety of the tissue before it is released for use.
